Why see Weird Al Yankovic?

the unfortunate return of the ridiculously self- indulgent ill-advised vanity tour

The undisputed king of the comedy song goes low key once more as he serves up another outing of 2018's The Ridiculously Self-Indulgent, Ill-Advised Vanity Tour. Hitting an eye-watering 133 venues across the country, the show drops the props and theatrics to offer another side of Yankovich and his band outside of the parody song genre. Whilst there may be a few fan-favorite comedy tunes, Al and Co are more focused on playing some of their original material, deep album cuts, and the like. So if you're looking for belly laughs and 'Amish Paradise', it's probably best to wait until the next tour.

As a leader of pop-culture parody, Weird Al has sold more comedy recordings than any other artist in history. In a career spanning nearly three decades, he has amassed 30 Gold and Platinum albums, 7 Gold and Platinum-certified home videos, and 3 Grammy Awards.

Weird Al Gets Better with Age!

Saw him in Greenville last year. I wasn't super excited about the Vanity tour returning, but I think the song choices he had for this tour was better than the last. More of his better-known original songs. I hope his next tour features more parodies, though, but he always puts on a great show! Family-friendly too! And, it showcases his band members' many talents. Emo Phillips was a perfect addition, too! ... Read more

Interesting

I didn’t know when I paid $400 for tickets that he was not going to play popular tunes…so that would have influenced my decision as my kids really like the pop tracks. So going in I didn’t know what to expect. The opening act guy was creepy/ sad, not my cup of tea. Weird Al’s group though have talents and can really play a wide range of music. We stayed a little more than half the concert as my daughter fell asleep. Though I didn’t know the songs it was still entertaining and the acoustics were solid. Wonder what I missed…. ... Read more

I thoroughly enjoyed the event. Even the blair claws mishap. Would love to get the keyboard solo for Melanie on tape :) ... Read more
